Erin McDevitt Headshot - Edited

Erin McDevitt

Founder and CEO
Erin McDevitt is the CEO and driving force behind Achieving More, where she brings deep empathy, bold leadership, and a personal commitment to helping individuals live fuller, more independent lives.

Erin was born and raised in Philadelphia, off of South Street, a neighborhood that shaped her perspective from a young age. “It cultivated a sense of individuality and uniqueness,” she says. “It helped me appreciate the different.” Surrounded by people who were unapologetically themselves—from punk rockers to artists— Erin learned early on the value of diversity and authenticity. She split her upbringing between Philadelphia County and Chester County, giving her firsthand insight into the socio-economic and cultural differences that shape communities.

Some of Erin’s earliest influences came from simply observing and connecting with people. In high school, she formed a daily friendship with a man experiencing homelessness, sitting and talking with him during her lunchtimes. She also witnessed violence against a person with intellectual disabilities—an experience that deeply affected her and reinforced her desire to advocate for those often marginalized or misunderstood. The contrast between the cultural richness of Philadelphia and the quieter, less diverse Chester County left a lasting impression and shaped her commitment to inclusion.

Erin's journey has also been shaped by personal loss-- particularly the passing of her sister, who struggled with mental health. That experience deepened her desire to support people who are simply trying to “just manage, just get through.”Erin earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami, majoring in English Literature with a minor in History. She later earned her Juris Doctorate from Temple University School of Law. Although she no longer practices law, her early legal work focused on the aging population, where she felt a pull toward helping people live with purpose and dignity.

That pull eventually led her to found Achieving More, where she envisioned a different kind of support—one focused on possibilities rather than limitations. “I was drawn toward a more positive approach,” she shares. “One where I could help people live independently and find more meaning than what I could offer just from a legal position.”

Outside of her professional work, Erin is an apprentice falconer, finding joy in training birds and building a language of mutual understanding. She’s proud of her daughter who has done her own work with people with intellectual disabilities and who is now also a part of the Achieving more team!

Erin is also passionate about gardening with native plants and creating an ecosystem in her backyard—where fireflies light up the night sky in a display that rivals anything man-made.She raises butterflies, feeds wild birds, and finds deep peace in watching nature thrive.

Erin describes her journey with Achieving More as filled with “enormous highs and enormous lows,” but ultimately a path of meaning. “To watch people, grow, build their confidence, embrace each other, and become such an amazing team—it’s been incredible,” she reflects. “You get to have an impact and know that you’re leaving a legacy, even if it’s in a small way.”
